Berliners Jump To Escape East
Dramatic footage shows Germans leaping to freedom from apartment buildings in the East over The Wall into the West. One mind-blowing shot shows a woman hanging from a second story window of an apartment building. East German police hang onto her arms. A West German man pulls her legs from below. She drops to safety and people cheer. At another building, a man sits on the ledge of an upper floor window. CUs of people gesturing for him to jump. He drops into a safety net held by firemen below. A series of shots show E. German workers at a window facing the border which they seal with bricks and then, WSs of apartment buildings with bricked up walls. Tracking shot follows the completed Wall.
