On their way to Cherbourg, GIs advance on the town of Montebourg. Military vehicles speed past smoking debris. Inside Montebourg, a soldier flings a grenade through the open window of a building. Two GI's crouch amid rubble, one talks on a portable phone, the other aims his rifle. CU of phone talker. Another GI fires into a doorway.
