U.S. Marines Take Marianas
U.S. Marines defeat Japanese forces to take the Mariana Islands in the western Pacific. Cannons fire, bombs and shells explode, flame throwers burn a Japanese soldier, another Japanese soldier carries a white flag in surrender, two Japanese leap from cliffs to commit suicide. Enemy corpses are gathered in a pile.
