1938 All-Star Game

Lots of shots from the 1938 All-Star Game at Cincinnati's Crosley Field, photographed on the field level and from the press box. New York Giant slugger Mel Ott hits some balls during batting practice. Youthful Joe DiMaggio talks to a civilian near the batting cage. Clown Prince of Baseball Al Schacht, in hobo outfit and cleats, performs some comedy pitching. Ott talks to a reporter. Reporters at work in the press box are seen in a panning shot. An announcer watches the game through binoculars as he broadcasts. Most of the game footage is too overexposed to decipher.
