Cremation On The Ganges
Cremation on the banks of the Ganges. A corpse wrapped in a sheet is carried down stone steps to the water's edge. Two men chop wood with axes. The corpse is dipped in the Ganges, then placed atop the wood pile as mourners seem to watch nonchalantly. A torch lights the wood. The resulting ashes are swept into the Ganges.
